I'm a mum of two boys, ages 7 and 4, and I'm expecting another little boy to join our family in January 2025.
I've been with my partner for 12 years, since I was 16, and he's been my biggest support (I couldn’t have done this without him).
I've worked in the beauty industry for 10 years, starting right after school when I went to college to study hair and beauty.
I started my career as an employed hairdresser, and then began my lash journey after my first baby was born in 2017. I knew I needed a side hustle, so I decided to take a £150 lash extension course. Who would have thought that course would lead to me owning my own salon?
I began doing lash extensions on the sofa in my living room, then moved into my spare bedroom, all while still doing hairdressing! After a few months, the lash business began to take off, and I had a steady stream of clients. I knew I needed to take the plunge, so I decided to go all in and focus solely on lashes. This was around the time my second little boy was born, and I knew it was now or never.
In 2020, I got my first salon—just as lockdown hit! This meant my business couldn’t open. It was such a horrible, worrying time with two young children, and I had just signed a lease for a shop I couldn’t even work in! The stress was overwhelming. But you never give up hope; if you don’t believe in yourself, no one else will.
Finally, in April 2021, I was able to open my salon doors. This was only the beginning! The salon grew, more ladies joined the team, and we got busier by the day. Everything was on a high! We needed a bigger salon, so I took the plunge to go into business with the lovely Emily, and we decided to open a larger salon to bring in even more ladies to work alongside us. We've truly become a team, and our girls have become our best friends.
The decision to go online happened when I found out I was pregnant with my latest little boy. It was the push I needed to make this dream come to life! That’s when I decided to create a lash product dedicated to "Mums to Be." I’m thrilled to announce that I am the first lash supplier in the U.K. to bring out a "Mum to Be range"—something so close to my heart. It’s perfect for baby shower gifts or as a special treat for a mum-to-be.
This is where my mind never stops—I knew I wanted to keep growing. So I decided to launch my own lash brand! I wanted to cut costs for myself and create a product I was proud to sell. That's when Yorkshire Lash was born. After much thought and research, Yorkshire Lash became something close to my heart—a proud Yorkshire woman bringing her own Yorkshire-themed lashes to the market. I wanted something classy, affordable, high-quality, and homely too! Some of our lashes are named after Yorkshire sayings, like "On The Lash," "Nah then lash," and "Get puddings in"—something a little different from your typical lash brand!
